Michael Schumacher goes off in a spectacular fashion during practice for the 2001 Australian Grand Prix. Despite rolling his car multiple times in the high speed crash, he was unhurt and apparently unaffected as he went on to claim pole position and fastest lap en route to a race victory.
The grand prix also marked the debuts of two future champions, Fernando Alonso (who finished 12th for minnows Minardi) and Kimi Raikkonen (finishing 6th to get a point on his debut).
The race was also marred by the death of trackside marshall Graham Beveridge who was struck in the chest by an errant wheel after a crash involving Jacques Villeneuve and Ralf Schumacher on lap 4.

F1 friendships, Nico Hulkenberg style:
[…]Hülkenberg also gets along really well with Timo Glock, as he told ‘SID’: “I talk to him very often on the phone and also write him texts. In the driver briefings we also always sit next to each other,” Hülkenberg says and continues jokingly: “We also always hold hands.”
Rosberg thinks that’s great and adds: “Holding hands. I should try that with Michael too…”

Wow I would never have imagined that. Really, I needed someone to count their smiles. That’s brand new. Drivers scoring more points are happier during GP week-ends? Wow
